A Bar, sports venue, restaurant, or other establishment that is allowed to serve alcohol is also known as a “dram shop.” According to the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code, a dram shop that serves alcohol to someone who is observably intoxicated may be held liable for any drunk driver accidents or other harm done after being overserved. Drunk driving accidents cause 37 deaths per day on average per the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. All of these deaths could have been prevented.
