Sam Houston
Meet Sam Houston
Sam Houston is a Board-Certified trial lawyer with more than 37 years of courtroom experience. Over the course of his career, he has tried 50 or more cases to verdict, successfully defended more than 40 medical malpractice trials, and has not lost a trial since 2000. In addition to his defense victories, Sam obtained plaintiff’s verdicts and settlements including a 12.7-million-dollar verdict in Waller County, Texas.
Experienced Texas Trial Attorney
For nearly four decades, Sam represented health care providers and professionals in complex medical malpractice and liability cases. He handled cases on the defense side involving medical issues such as infections, birth injuries, misdiagnosed cancers and surgical errors. He now brings that deep defense insight to Perdue & Kidd, where he is committed to fighting for justice on behalf of injured individuals and their families. Sam knows how defendants and their insurance companies look at cases. He is positioned to use that knowledge to help plaintiffs either reach a fair settlement or, if necessary, prevail at trial.
Sam has been recognized for his trial skill and professionalism throughout his career. He is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an associate member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), holds an AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, and has been repeatedly named a Texas Super Lawyer by Texas Monthly.
A native of Colorado City, Texas (population 4,000), Sam grew up working in his family’s hardware and automotive store. After graduating high school, he earned his B.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin and later his J.D. from Baylor University School of Law, where he was a member of the Order of Barristers and Phi Delta Phi.
Outside of his law career, Sam has been active in his community. He has served as a Cub Scout leader, coached Special Olympics teams, and twice ran as a candidate for public office. Sam is married to Jantha Houston, also a lawyer, and together they have two adult children, both graduates of the University of Texas and Baylor University. In his free time, he enjoys golf, hiking, and reading.
