Meet Jim Perdue, Jr.

Jim M. Perdue, Jr. is a partner in PERDUE & KIDD, with a national practice focusing on civil trials, medical product and pharmaceutical liability claims, and catastrophic personal injury cases of all types. He is Board Certified in Medical Professional Liability by the American Board of Professional Liability Attorneys and Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. He currently serves on the Rules Advisory Committee of the Texas Supreme Court and as an Adviser on ALI’s Restatement of the Law (Third) Torts: Concluding Provisions. Mr. Perdue is the Past President of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association (2021).

Mr. Perdue has been listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” (Woodward/White 2006-22) for Plaintiff’s Personal Injury practice and Medical Malpractice for over sixteen years, which named him Trial Lawyer of the Year for Medical Malpractice in 2021 and for Personal Injury in 2016 in Houston. Mr. Perdue has been named a “Texas Super Lawyer” in Texas Monthly since the list’s inception 17 years ago. Mr. Perdue is an Advocate on the American Board of Trial Advocates, a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers, a Fellow of the International Academy of Trial Lawyers, and a member of The Summit Council.

Mr. Perdue has tried over 30 personal injury cases to jury verdict, including over a dozen multi-million-dollar verdicts for cases involving product liability, workplace injury, and medical malpractice. This includes a $40 million verdict in a commercial trucking case in DeWitt County in 2019 (reportedly the largest verdict in county history) and his $27.6 million dollar verdict against Boston Scientific, listed as one of the largest product liability verdicts of 2014 by the National Law Journal. Mr. Perdue has given over 160 continuing legal education presentations, chaired or co-chaired over a dozen legal education seminars, and published on a wide range of topics, from trial techniques to tort law.

Education and Background

Mr. Perdue attended the University of Texas and graduated summa cum laude. He then received his J.D. cum laude at the University of Houston Law Center and was named their Outstanding Alumnus of the Year in 2006. The Texas Trial Lawyers Association awarded him the Don Bowen Distinguished Service Award in 2018. He is the Past-President of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association, a member of the Leader’s Forum of the American Association for Justice, a fellow of the Texas and Houston Bar Foundations, and a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas.

Mr. Perdue has served on the Boards of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church Foundation (Houston), TIRR Foundation, Children at Risk, and the Silver Spurs Alumni Association. He is a past director of the Texas Lyceum and Past President of the University of Houston Law Center Alumni Organization. He and his incredible wife Nicole have three sons.
